1. A Day on Pluto

We know that a day on Earth only lasts 24 hours but in contrast, things on Pluto aren’t so quick as a single day goes on for 153.6 hours. This happens because of Pluto’s slow rotation rate and on Earth, that time period equates to 6 days, 9 hours, and 36 minutes.

2. Liquids in Space

A body of water moving freely in space takes on the shape of a sphere. This happens because of a phenomenon known as surface tension. Surface tension is an imbalance of intermolecular attractive forces that also takes place in Earth’s lower orbit sometimes.

3. What We Know About the Moon and Mars

Over the years, scientists have discovered more about the planet Mars and the moon than they have about the ocean back here on Earth. When we’re talking about studying the terrain, 100% of the Earth’s moon and the surface of Mars have been mapped, whereas marine biologists have only been able to uncover 5% of our ocean.

4. The Second-Largest Planet

In our solar system, the second-largest planet is Saturn, coming behind Jupiter. Its radius is 36,184 miles, which is nine times the size of our home planet, Earth. But, the density of Saturn is very low, which is why it weighs even less than Earth – coming in at roughly around one-eighth of the Earth’s total weight.

5. Earth’s View of the Universe

We can only see 5% of the universe down from Earth. 27% of the universe is dark matter and the remaining 68% is classified as dark energy. Both of these things happen to be invisible, which means we cannot see them, even through a telescope!

6. Thunderstorms on Earth

At any and every second, some 2000 thunderstorms are taking place around the world. It is estimated that around the entire world, 16 million thunderstorms occur per year, with almost half of these taking place in the United States alone.
